LIW's reef net fishery is regarded as one of the most sustainable on the planet, and they have collaborated with tribal and state fishers in the Salish Sea and Alaska to provide customers with the absolute highest quality seafood available. In 2007, Lummi Island Wild began the process of outfitting its reef net fleet with solar power, making it the world's first solar-powered wild salmon fishery. Furthermore, their gear remains in the same location year after year, allowing reef netting to have the lowest carbon footprint of any salmon fishery in the Salish Sea.
